Mandatory strata committee training is coming. The certificate is the start — not the finish.
From 1 October 2026, new and returning NSW strata committee members must complete free online training delivered by NSW Fair Trading through Strata Hub, within three months of appointment.
Your strata manager manages the scheme. C6 helps your committee govern it.

WHAT CHANGES ON 1 OCTOBER 2026
Know the obligation. Protect your seat. Then govern the scheme.
Members appointed from 1 October 2026 must finish the training within three months of appointment. Returning members need it when next appointed.
If training is not completed on time, a member can automatically cease to hold their committee position. Keep certificates and follow Fair Trading record-keeping guidance.
- Training applies to new and returning committee members under the NSW reforms commencing 1 October 2026.
- Members appointed before 1 October 2026 generally do not need to complete training until they are next appointed, though they may choose to do it earlier.
- Official access steps, exemptions and secretary / agent guidance will be published by NSW Fair Trading — confirm details on the government site before relying on summaries.

After committee members hold their Fair Trading certificates, volunteer committees still need scheme-specific visibility: evidence trails, missing information, manager oversight, contracts, insurance VFM and a practical 30/60/90-day plan.

Is C6 providing the mandatory NSW training?
No. The mandatory course is free training delivered by NSW Fair Trading via Strata Hub. This page explains the obligation and how C6’s existing Health Check helps after the certificate.
What happens if a member misses the deadline?
According to NSW Fair Trading guidance, a committee member who does not complete the required training within three months of appointment can automatically lose their committee seat. Confirm the current official process on the NSW Government site.
